Historic Preservation Consultants
Individuals on these lists meet federal professional qualification requirements for one or more of seven fields. The qualifications define minimum education and experience required to perform identification, evaluation, registration, and treatment activities. The lists are provided as an aid to those seeking the services of a historic preservation consultant and are published with the understanding that neither the Ohio History Connection nor the State Historic Preservation Office in any manner recommends, endorses, or assumes responsibility for the quality of work of any individual or firm on the list, nor is there any guarantee, implicit or implied, that any work product produced by those on the list will necessarily meet federal and state requirements.
To be considered, download and complete a qualification form for one or more of the seven professional fields. Once we receive your completed form and $75 annual fee, we will respond in writing to let you know either that your name will be added to the list or that we need more information. Submit your completed request and $75 fee by check made payable to Ohio History Connection to: Education and Support Services, State Historic Preservation Office, 800 E. 17th Ave., Columbus, OH 43211-2474.
To qualify, submit documentation showing that you meet the federal professional qualification requirements for one or more of these fields. For Historic Landscape Architecture and Historic Preservation Planning the standards used are those proposed by the National Park Service for these two areas. Archaeologists who have been evaluated and certified by the Register of Professional Archeologists (RPA) are also identified on the list.
By submitting the qualification documentation form, consultants agree to follow SHPO guidance and processes regarding research, scholarship, presentation of prepared documents, and accepted methods for citing and quoting another’s work, published sources, and copyrighted material. They also pledge to carry out work in an ethical and professional manner.
