This month State Archives staff transferred 54 reel-to-reel tapes of the Department of Natural Resources Ohio Outdoors Weekly Radio Programs. These public service announcements aired from 1992-1996 and include topics such as hunting ethics, recycling, and boating safety. Earlier the Department of Natural Resources had transferred tapes covering the years 1975-1980. The tapes have been cataloged as State Archives Series 1662 and a description of the series is available in the Online Collection Catalog. As the Civil War Sesquicentennial approaches State Archives staff are working to provide greater access to Ohios rich collection of Civil War records. This includes State Archives Series 117: the Ohio Adjutant Generals Special Orders. These orders, issued by the Adjutant Generals Department to Ohios commanders, include information pertaining to the appointment and resignation of officers, the raising and equipping of troops, the draft, and the defense of Cincinnati during the Confederate invasion of Kentucky in 1862. State Archives staff are currently revising the finding aid to this series to improve access for researchers. In January State Archives staff transferred 10 cubic feet of records and 6 volumes from the Office of the Governor. Included in this series are records pertaining to Boards and Commissions appointments made by Governor Taft; clemency records from ca. 1984-1994; photographs from Governor Tafts Administration; and records pertaining to the transition from Governor Hollister to Governor Taft. These records will be cataloged and added to the Online Collection Catalog.
