To celebrate our one-year inscription as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, we invite you to join our photo contest, "Framing Hopewell". This contest highlights the abundant wildlife, natural beauty and people connected to the Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks World Heritage Site. This site holds profound historical and cultural importance, and we encourage you to capture its essence through your photography.

Wildlife Wonders: Photograph the diverse wildlife that inhabits the Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks sites. From birds and mammals to insects and plants, capture the natural splendor of this unique environment.
Nature's Canvas: Explore and document the scenic landscapes, sun and moonrise, flora and geological formations that define the beauty of the Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks.
People and Heritage: Show the human connection to this historic site. Capture portraits or moments that reflect the significance of the Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks to its visitors and local communities.
Submission Guidelines
Submit up to three photos, one for each category.
Photos must be original work taken by the participant at one or more Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks sites.
Images should be submitted in digital format (JPEG or PNG) to September 13th, 2024
Include your name, category of submission, location where photo was taken and a brief description (50-100 words) explaining the context or story behind each photo.

Winners will be selected for each category.

Winning entries will be featured on our website and traveling exhibition and across our social media channels.

The best photos will be judged in terms of composition, content, clarity and how it captures the category entered.
Winners will be requested to submit original photos and sign a release form giving Ohio History Connection permission to use the images in their publications.
Rules and Regulations
Agreement to Rules: By entering this photo contest, you acknowledge that you agree to the rules and regulations, confirm your eligibility and grant Ohio History Connection permission to share your entry on social media and related platforms.
Eligibility: The contest is open to individuals who are 18 years of age or older.
Originality: All submitted photos must be original, taken by the entrant and must not violate any trademark, copyright, moral, intellectual property or privacy rights of any individual or entity.
Submission Channel: Entries must be submitted through the official contest channels. Submissions made through any other channels will not be considered.
Judging and Disqualification: Ohio History Connection will judge all entries, and their decisions are final. Ohio History Connection reserves the right to disqualify any entry that is deemed inappropriate or does not adhere to the contest rules.
Usage of Photos: By participating, entrants agree that their photos may be used by Ohio History Connection.
Deadline: Submissions will not be accepted after the contest deadline.
Publication: Winning images will be featured on the Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks website, as well as on Facebook and Instagram pages.
Ineligibility: Ohio History Connection staff members are not eligible to participate in this contest.
