The Historical Showplace of Washington Court House
Built in 1875 by Morris Sharp with the vision of creating “the Showplace of Washington Court House,” this Victorian Italianate home was purchased by the Fayette County Historical Society in 1958 and opened as a museum in October 1965. The museum features 14 rooms filled with artifacts that depict the county’s rich history. A climb to the museum’s tower via the spiral staircase offers a spectacular view of the city. The museum is proudly listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
