Ohio became a state in 1803, but not without conflict. Step back to 1802 and witness the fiery debate for whether Ohio should become a state or remain within the Northwest Territory. Observe the momentous debate highlighting the Territorial Governor Arthur St. Clair and Representative Thomas Worthington’s differing plans for Ohio’s path to statehood.

This event is part of Ohio Statehood Day. Admission to this event is at no cost. The grounds and museum will be open between 10 a.m.–4 p.m. The “Debate over Statehood” times are 11 a.m., Noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m. & 3 p.m. Mansion tours will take place every half-hour beginning at 10:30 a.m., with the last tour beginning at 3 p.m.
