The Ohio History Connection is honored to present the Dineh’ Tah Dancers, from Albuquerque, New Mexico, as they perform traditional dances of the Dineh people. These dances have been modified to respect the actual songs and dances used in sacred religious ceremonies. Shawn Price, the representative of the Dineh Tah group, will begin the performance with a presentation related to Ohio history called “War Maker/Peace Maker”. In this presentation, Mr. Price will talk about General William T. Sherman’s role in the peace treaties through the Indian Peace Commission of 1867-1868, and the impact that these treaties had on the indigenous people in the western frontier.

Additionally, we are pleased to host representatives from the Sherman House Museum from Lancaster, Ohio who will be hosting the Dineh Dancers earlier in the month. We are also pleased to host NAICCO (Native American Indian Center of Central Ohio) on site, as they will be providing samples of soup and fry bread for our museum guests.
