Phil Wanyerka’s guest blog on the image of the Hopewell mica hand showing up in the Cleveland Arcade reminded me of when I had a similar encounter at the Columbus College of Art and Design. Scattered across the lawn between the buildings is a five-piece sculpture entitled Vault. It was installed in 2006, but I have been unable, so far, to find out much more about it.
The next time you’re in downtown Columbus, check it out. See how many other ancient American Indian icons you can find referenced in the sculpture!
And anytime you come across a similar “Hopewellian-Revival” work of art send us a picture and we’ll post it on the blog!
