What to know about the site:
The mansion house, completed in 1806-1807, has been restored to look much as it did when the Worthington family lived there, including many original Worthington family furnishings.
Looking east from the north lawn of the mansion, one can see across the Scioto River Valley to the Logan Range. The view from this high vista on the grounds is said to be the inspiration for Ohio’s Great State Seal. At the time the Worthington family lived at Adena, Chillicothe was the state capital (1803-1810 and 1812-1816).
